
One of the expected matches and two of the stronger teams in the league locked horns. It turned out to be a very low profile encounter but it was a close finish. The Deccan chargers who batted first scored only 110 runs before they lost all the ten wickets in the nineteenth over. Murali Karthik had a wonderful spell of 3-17 and Ajit Agarkar picked up two wickets. The pitch at Eden gardens was badly prepared and Adam Gilchrist remarked that it was not fit for a Twenty 20 match. Andrew Symonds was the only batsman with a notable score of 32.
Despite the very low target it was not a cake walk for the Kolkata Knight Riders. They lost a few quick wickets initially but Dave Hussey stabilized the innings and remained unbeaten with a score of 37. The match was interrupted in between because of a power failure but resumed later. At the juncture if the match was stopped then it would have been a tied encounter according to Duckworth lewis Method. Finally the knight Riders won the match by 5 wickets and one over to spare.
